Music, Melbourne + Me
If you’re in Melbourne and you’re a fan of fashion or costuming, you have to check out this free exhibition that Kylie has contributed some amazing pieces to.
Music, Melbourne + Me: 40 Years of Mushroom and Melbourne’s Music Culture opened on November 19 at RMIT Gallery on Swanston Street and Kylie contributed several pieces from her personal collection including her fabulous diamante-encrusted microphone.
Our brother Brendan tracked down Kylie’s Pegasus horse from the Aphrodite tour. It’s life-sized, the wings vast, and you can view the back of the horse to see how she climbed up to get onto the horse’s back before the song started.
The blue feather and star-spangled number she wore to open her Showgirl tour is another stand-out piece in the exhibition. You can’t believe the weight of some costuming – it’s a real work out wearing it. It shows just how – athletic and physically challenging these big-production arena tour shows are!
Entry to Music, Melbourne + Me: 40 Years of Mushroom and Melbourne’s Music Culture is free and the exhibition is open daily until February 22. I’m planning to go and check it out soon.
